Founder & Director

Julie Perkins is a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal and sports injury management, with extensive experience in private practice. Physiotherapy is an autonomous, person-centred healthcare profession focused on optimising movement and function to enhance health, wellbeing, and quality of life. Practitioners integrate clinical knowledge, practical skills, critical thinking, and interpersonal abilities to work in partnership with individuals, recognising the influence of physical, psychological, social, and environmental factors on function. Julie’s clinical practice reflects these principles, underpinned by an academic background in sport and exercise science and extensive experience delivering patient-centred care within independent settings. While her primary focus is musculoskeletal and sports-related injury management, her postgraduate qualifications also extend to orthopaedic rehabilitation, supporting recovery across the continuum of care.

Through her previous work in Deeside, Julie developed a strong appreciation of the relationship between health, community context, and access to care. This experience continues to inform her person-centred and contextually responsive approach to both clinical practice and education.

Alongside her clinical work, Julie has contributed to physiotherapy education over the past six years, undertaking leadership roles that support the student journey from recruitment through to placement and transition into professional practice. Her work reflects the core pillars of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy practice, integrating clinical expertise, education, leadership, and research, and drawing on the strong links between these domains to enhance learning and practice.

Her doctoral research explores the role of anatomy and physiology education in shaping newly qualified physiotherapists’ confidence, professional identity, and readiness for clinical practice in the UK. She has a particular interest in enhancing the transition from student to autonomous practitioner and in advancing the quality of physiotherapy education.
